Meet the 2008-2009 Dakota Combo!
This is the third year of Minnesota’s premier High School combo – The Dakota Combo. With generous support from the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education, this group will perform at the Dakota with a national jazz artist. Under the direction of jazz artist Kelly Rossum, the 2-hour rehearsals (Thursdays from 8:00pm –10:00pm, every other week) will be held at MacPhail Center for Music. The program will continue through both semesters of the 2008-2009 school year.
The fall concert, with the national guest artist, will be at the Dakota on *Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 8:00pm (*Saturday, December 13 is another possible concert date). There will also be a clinic with the guest artist that morning at the Dakota.
The Dakota Combo will be performing at this year’s MMEA Conference on Friday, February 13, 2009. The group will also tour area schools during February, 2009.
The spring concert will be at MacPhail Center for Music’s Antonello Hall, on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 8:00pm.
Selection for this jazz combo was based entirely on audition.

Tuition for the entire school year is covered by the Dakota Foundation for Jazz Education.

Kelly Rossum has presented music master classes throughout the United States as well as in Europe and Asia. Kelly is the Jazz Coordinator and trumpet instructor at MacPhail Center for Music.
